Musical Director posts include that of professional ensembles Singscape and Papagena, symphony choirs Harlow Chorus and Nottingham University Choir, and chamber choirs Encoro and Reading Bach Choir. Sarah is a guest chorusmaster of the BBC Symphony Chorus and performs as guest conductor with many renowned ensembles including the Hilliard Ensemble, National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Cape Town Philharmonia Chorus, Kantorei der Friedenskirche, Düsseldorf and English Baroque Choir. Other groups which Sarah has chorusmastered include the Granada International Festival Choir (assisting Harry Christophers), Joyful Company of Singers, Cardiff Polyphonic Choir and Reading Festival Chorus.

Sarah’s repertoire encompasses all major oratorios, choral symphonies, cantatas and choral works. She has commissioned and premiered many contemporary choral works. Special interests include multimedia collaborations, Russian Orthodox music, contemporary Kiwi and Baltic repertoire and the music of Elisabeth Lutyens.  She records regularly for Classical Communications.

The Passio was heard…in a performance of intense focus, with the Hilliard Ensemble and the National Chamber Choir of Ireland under Sarah Tenant-Flowers…The performance was hugely impressive… Irish Times 2008 (Review of Part’s Passio, Dublin)


Nottingham University Philharmonia Orchestra, Albert Hall Nottingham

Sarah is Associate Music Director of the Brandenburg Sinfonia (2003-present) with whom she performs regularly in the UK.

Equally at home with period and modern instruments she has directed oratorio, choral and commission performances with groups ranging from Britten Sinfonia, City of London Sinfonia, Alberni String Quartet and Cape Town Philharmonia Orchestra to His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornetts, City of London Chamber Players and Fiori Musicali.
